Amber Privett, LCSW, CCTP

trauma-informed, compassion-focused social worker

I’m a native North Carolinian living in the sunshine state, who loves reading a good book with an ambient playlist in the background just as much as kayaking the springs or going for a run. I’m connected in my community and give back through volunteering with local organizations, as well as being on the my local advisory council for Safe Families for Children. I’ve lived many professional lives, from being a a gelato scooper to a group home mother to an assistant director for a Florida-wide nonprofit.

After facing my own difficulties in life, I connected with a therapist who helped me along my healing journey and guided me to finding wholeness. This inspired me to further my career in clinical social work while still being an advocate for the marginalized. After years of hard work, training, and advanced education, I started my own private therapy practice to guide others in their journey toward healing. Getting to step into the lives of my clients and watching as they navigate healing their negative beliefs and reframing their thinking patterns has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

As I navigated the therapy world with clients of all backgrounds, I slowly began realizing how prevalent a lack of information was on abuse response and trauma care in the church. I was firsthand working with people who walked away from Jesus, partially because of how they saw their faith communities mishandling their own abuse or the abuse of others. By combining my social work skills, prior training experiences, and passion for making the Church the safest space for people healing from traumatic situations, I’ve been able to help churches, denominational organizations, and ministries figure out how to respond to abuse and care for survivors of trauma.

As a social worker, I’m passionate about helping people start their healing journey, grow in confidence, and find true inner peace. As a trainer and consultant, I am always excited to sit with teams and walk alongside them - highlighting their strengths and identifying areas for improvement. I love learning and am always looking for new ways to challenge myself and my clients. I’m committed to my own journey of learning and growth, so we’re in this together!
